The fact that Peru has been and remains one of the most important tourist destinations in South America cannot surprise anybody. Peruvians are proud to have the country with the largest number of archeological sites in South America.

Just by mentioning “Machu Picchu” we all know we are talking about this andean country, proud to be the birthplace of the Inca Empire.

Peru is also a natural source of a variety of ecosystems that go all the way from the Amazon Jungle (over 60% of the country) to the desert that covers the entire coastline, passing through the Andes. This in itself is an invitation to practice alpinism, adventure tourism, trekking or just lay back and admire the spectacular landscapes offered by the snow covered mountains and glacial lakes.

As a faithful inheritor of a rich blend of cultures (indians, africans, asians, hispanics) Peru has generated an original and splendid folklore,  with beliefs and traditions that blend into a religious syncretism. On festivities , while  “Mother Earth” or “Pachamama”  is honored by giving to her  the first drink, catholics walk their saints in processions in the same streets  the Inca Emperors roamed worshipping the sun.

It is not easy to find destinations that offer so many reasons to justify your visit.
