For international flights we recommend you to be at the airport at least three hours in advance. Once at the airport you should have on hand your passport and your airline ticket for admission to the main hall where you do a pre check-in. Here you will know which check-in booths are assigned to your airline. |
| |
|
Passengers boarding an international flight should have a valid and current passport regardless of age (even children or newly born). If the passenger is a child traveling with or without the company of a parent or adult companion, he should have an authorization from the proper authorities.
|
| |
|
You should check with the airline for the permissible weight for checked luggage. Excess weight will be charged according to airline politics. |
| |
|
It should not be carried in your hand luggage the following, because it will be retained at security controls: |
- Sharp objects of all types and sizes.
- Firearms or imitations thereof.
- Any object considered dangerous in an airplane cabin, in compliance of international norms set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

You will go through the security control area of Lima Airport Partners (LAP), who will inspect your hand luggage as well as other belongings, making sure there are no dangerous items in compliance with ICAO regulations. To do so, passengers must put their hand luggage in the X-ray machines and walk through the metal detectors. Any object considered dangerous to the flight will be retained in the passenger’s presence. The passengers have 30 days to claim their retained belongings
|
| |
|
The passengers can claim their retained objects at the Lima Airport Partners security office
24 hours a day. It is necessary to present the “Retained-Not Allowed Objects in Cabin Form”.
The passenger also has the option of naming a representative to claim his belongings with
a simple power of attorney letter signed by the passenger, enclosing a photocopy of his
passport or ID card, a photocopy of the retention form and a photocopy of the ID card of the person claiming the object. |

| Cultural property - replicas and souvenirs verification |
|
|
At the airport personnel from the National Institute of Culture (INC) is the one in charge of issuing certificates in order for replicas of Peruvian cultural pieces to be allowed to leave the country. This document will be useful to authenticate the status of a replica in other airports. If the INC personnel proofs that the object in question is a genuine piece it will seize it.
